You Need To Be More Politically Aware
Because the ‘not interested in politics’ people are not helping themselves or the society progress
As humans, it’s our intrinsic nature to complain whether it’s about our football team not performing well, slow wi-fi, long queues, a wardrobe full of clothes but nothing to wear, or any other first-world problem. When at a social gathering, we often put problematic governance and social issues under the rug because we think it’s ‘too political’ to talk about and might spoil the ‘chill vibe’ of the group. And yet, people in the same group will talk about their low salary, sexism at the workplace, homeless people on their streets, or their friends not getting a job.
We can not complain about these things and say, “I’m not interested in politics,” casually at the same time because everything is molded by the decisions our elected representatives take. Therefore, awareness is the only key to progress as an individual and society. However, it’s one thing to research and analyze, and another to agree with someone’s opinion blindly. Do not let anybody tell you what to think. Learn to think for yourself as Peter Hitchens, an English journalist and author, puts it rightly:
